| OVERVIEW, HISTORY
AND FOCUS |
| |
Tankerdale was established by Hugh
Routh and John Hartley in 1977, with the express purpose of offering
high quality furniture conservation and restoration to historic houses,
museums, national institutions and private clients throughout the
UK. Over our 31 year heritage we have worked closely with conservators,
curators, architects and contractors to restore some of the UK's leading
furniture collections and historic joinery by undertaking conservation
treatments both at our workshop and on site.
Our team of ten craftspeople have completed comprehensive apprenticeships
and courses to ensure a high level of expertise. Each person has an
excellent understanding of the nature and treatment of the objects
in our care.
|
 |
We
are also experienced in compiling surveys and advice for the care
of collections including condition reports, environmental control,
housekeeping, fire and flood salvage and insect infestations.
In 1999 we moved to our current location in Petersfield, Hampshire
where we converted three redundant farm buildings into our purpose-built
workshops. Our project was awarded the East Hampshire Conservation
and Design Award for its contribution to the built environment. |
